The 2025 PGRO Descriptive Lists for field beans show that NPZ UK varieties continue to offer pulse growers a wide choice to meet their yield, agronomic and marketing objectives.
Lynx is a consistently high yielding variety with high Downy mildew resistance and high standing power. It has become a well-established key variety for both growers and end users.
Ketu is a very high yielding LVC (low vicine/convicine) bean, along with Futura and newcomer Maderas, to give a set of varieties in this category that will help to further develop the UK pulse market.
Genius has a high seed yield and a large sized bean plus excellent agronomic characters, including high standing ability. Loki is a new variety with a good yield and a set of equally good agronomics.
Looking to the future, we have a range of promising field bean varieties in the pipeline to do our part in developing the UK pulse crop.
